Electronic Configuration of Atoms

- Key point

Aufbau Principle

Electrons are filled in ascending order of energy level.

Pauli's Exclusion Principle

A single atom cannot contain an electron with the same four quantum numbers.

Up to two electrons can be contained in each segmented orbital.

Hund's Rule

When electrons are injected into an orbital with the same energy level, they are dispersed and filled in all possible orbitals.

Illustration Electronic Configuration of Atoms

Through inert gas, electronic configurations can be easily expressed.

Electronic configuration of Cation
--> + electric charge means one electron is lost

Electronic configuration of Anion
--> - electric charge means one electron is add
