Conjugate Acid and Base pairs
Chemistry In a Nutshell
The acid and the base created by the loss of the proton are called the conjugate acid and base pair.
According to Brønsted−Lowry 's principle of acids and bases:
Conjugate acid formed when an acid donates a proton (H+) to a base.
Similar to the above, conjugate base formed when an base get a proton to a acid.
Example
+ Tips
Acid and its conjugate base are differ by One hydrogen ion because a conjugate base formed when an acid donates a hydrogen ion.
